A quick word from our patron, Bez from Happy Mondays
My name is Sacub Qureshi and I am the Managing Director of Teaching and Learning Kindness Limited.

I started out in construction 30 years ago as a laborer sweeping up on various building sites. At that time in my life I was young, goby with a bad attitude and nobody wanted to teach me because of my arrogance. There was a scaffolder who took me under his wing and taught me how to play the game . I became his laborer and he taught me how to scaffold, over the years and under his guidance he helped me reach the top, I went from laborer to scaffolder, supervisor to manager, instructor, trainer and assessor. I trained scaffolders all over the UK, South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East. As I travelled the world I gained an understanding of basic human rights, empathy, values and a passion for other people’s wellbeing.

3 Years ago my mentor and close friend completed suicide whilst experiencing a mental health illness, depression. This had a huge impact on me because I had no idea what he was going through as I knew nothing about mental health. I have put my spanners away and I am dedicating the rest of my working life to teaching and educating people about how important early intervention and prevention is when dealing with mental health. That’s why I founded TALK. Raising awareness of the different mental health illnesses means it no longer has to go unnoticed, and a greater number of us can reach out and support our friends and work colleagues. I don’t want what happened to my mate to ever happen to anyone else.
