“What is a Mental Health First Aider and why are they important?”
We at Teaching And Learning Kindness believe that mental wellbeing is just as important as physical wellbeing. It is that simple.
Physical First Aiders are a legal requirement for all businesses, yet there seems to be no legal requirement for Mental Health First Aiders in the workplace… but there is an ethical one.
Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn about the risk factors and warning signs for the different mental health issues and how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
Mental health first aiders are the 1st point of contact for employees if they are experiencing emotional distress with a mental health problem, such as stress, anxiety or depression. They are trained to listen and offer support.
This course is designed to cover a wide range of mental health issues including the link with alcohol and drug use. It includes the following;
What is mental health
MHFA Action Plan
Suicidal thoughts and behaviors
We offer a flexible training package which can be delivered face to face or remotely via a digital platform to suit your needs whether you are an individual or a company.
